May I again express to you my deep appreciation for your magnificent portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in performance of '"The,Meeting" in Spokane, Washington on January 21. I was in Spokane in connection with celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Week by the Multicultural Law Caucus at Gonzaga University School of Law. As you are aware, your performance was jointly sponsored by Gonzaga University and Eastern Washington University. The enthusiastic reception you and your colleagues received from an appreciative audience was a tribute to your talented performances. The performance unquestionably had great meaning for the dean, faculty and students at Gonzaga Law School. Of 500 students in the law school, only 37 are persons of color. Of that group, there is only one African American male and one African American/Philippine female. The significance of this is that the lives of Dr. King and Minister Malcolm X has meaning to others than African Americans. I thought the comments by Dean John Clute prior to the performance gave some indication of a new awareness of our contemporary American history and our continuing quest for cultural diversity in the public and private sectors.> Very sincerely yours, Charles Z. Smith

Your dramatic portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King was truly a magnificent and moving performance at the Naval Civilian Personnel Command's Commemoration of Black History Month. On behalf of the Black History Month Committee, thank you for sharing with us those inspirational words spoken by the Reverend King and for giving us all an opportunity to remember one of the greatest Americans of all times. Sincerely, Jan K. Bohrun PS: Dr. Kings speech was a classic, and we should all hear the words periodically just to maintain a proper perspective of progress. Thanks.

I commend you and your repertory company
for the wonderful program you presented in the State Capitol Rotunda to
commemorate Martin Luther King's birthday. The rendition of those
spiritual songs that were associated with Dr. King and your recitation
of parts of his speeches were beautifully done. Also, I think your
program was a very appropriate way to remember and honor a distinguished
American who spearheaded and, until his untimely death, led the march
for civil rights for Black Americans and equal rights for all Americans.
With sincere thanks, Mitch Van Yahres
